Benefiting

Just 20 years old, Scotts Valley High School serves approximately 850 students and has garnered national recognition and an enviable reputation for academic excellence. Further, the school takes great pride in a strong, inclusive athletic program.

For all of the outstanding achievements of SVHS, the school has faced financial obstacles from the time its doors first opened. As a result, the outdoor athletic facilities are extremely deficient. The track and field is treacherous, and conditions for use are unpredictable for sports and physical education classes. Games and practices are often cancelled or relocated. Limited seating often forces spectators to stand or sit on the ground. Most SVHS teams have rarely enjoyed the opportunity to host games on their home turf. SVHS has never hosted a track meet at home.

In spite of considerable challenges, SVHS coaches, administrators, teachers, parents and volunteers have always been committed to providing students with opportunities to realize their full potential. SVHS recognizes that athletics for children lead to better health and confidence; a positive impact on academic success; enhanced social relationships, teamwork, cooperation and leadership skills.

The Scotts Valley Sports Complex (SVSC) was formed in 2014 as a committee and project of the SVHS Falcon Club. We believe it is critical and essential for the community to step in and step up to shape the future for our local children and families.

SVSC is currently fundraising for the construction of a new track and field and stadium, including:
•    Turf playing field that will withstand year-round high usage
•    All-weather rubberized track
•    Features to accommodate all track and field competitive events
•    2,500-seat bleachers for both home and visiting spectators
•    Press Box to house time clock operators, announcers, film crews and team coordinators
•    Outbuildings for ticket sales, food and beverage, vending and storage

The fundraising goal for this project is $5.5 million. Our campaign is in its early stages, and to date we have secured almost $1.5 million in gifts and pledges.

All funds must be raised before construction can start. The target date is May 2017 to begin, with estimated completion by August 2017.

Please help Scotts Valley get the home field advantage. In order for this project to move forward, the support of the entire community is crucial. Public sources of funding are not available. The most viable way to fund this project is through private charitable contributions. We are grateful for your investment in our school!

The Falcon Club is the parent organization that supports the diverse after-school sports program. These sports are open to both boys and girls, and to all levels, including freshmen, junior varsity and varsity.

The Falcon Club’s goal is to ensure that students at SVHS are not only receiving the best possible academic education, but they also have open to them all the opportunities that High School sports have to offer.

Please consider supporting sports education at SVHS by joining the Falcon Club either as an individual member or having your employer sponsor as a corporate member. Thank you!
